About Bhutan The Kingdom of Bhutan with an area of 38,394km2 is one of Asia’s smallest nations. Arts and Crafts Almost all Bhutanese art, dance, drama and music have their roots in Buddhism. The development of Buddhist arts and crafts in Bhutan can be traced to the 15th century. There are thirteen traditional arts and crafts also known in Dzongkha as “Zorig Chusum” which you will get to see in your visit to Bhutan. . 
Culture and Tradition Bhutan was relatively isolated until the early 1950s and traditional Bhutan has changed more in the last 50 years than it has in the previous 400 years. It has sought to preserve its cultural identity in the face of modernization and increasing external influences. It is believed that ensuring protection and preservation of the unique culture would assist in protecting the sovereignty of the nation.
Flora and Fauna Bhutanese flora is considered to be of immense scientific value not only due to the high level of diversity but also because of the relatively good state of preservation compared to other Himalayan regions. There are over 5000 species of vascular plants which include diverse species of orchids, rhododendrons and other endemic plant species. Close to 200 species of mammal are known to occur in Bhutan of which 27 are globally threatened species like the Royal Bengal tiger.
